We own and manage 9 self catering apartments in 3 houses in a small community on the edge of the village of Bayerisch Eisenstein, in Bavaria but right on the border with the Czech Republic. We first bought a house here in autumn 2004, as a stopping off point for business trips to Eastern Europe. The holiday letting was meant to be a sideline to help fund the costs of the house. We were wrong on both counts. We loved the area and the people so much that we spend as much time as we can here. And the holiday letting took off like a rocket from day one, and has become a major business, with a second house (apartments 4 and 5), a few metres away, added in August 2006 and a third house (with 4 one bedroom apartments), close to the others, added in summer 2008.
